5 Days of OpenAI Drama That Almost Led to Collapse of OpenAI Culminates with Sam Altman Returning as CEO

OpenAI's governance witnessed a dramatic overhaul as Sam Altman, a leading figure in AI innovation, was reinstated as CEO after a short-lived dismissal on Friday that sent shockwaves through the tech community.

This shake-up introduces a new 'initial board' featuring heavyweights like Bret Taylor, former CEO of Salesforce and CTO of Facebook; Larry Summers, former U.S. Secretary of the Treasury; and Adam D'Angelo, the CEO of Quora. Looking ahead, the board plans to expand up to nine members, as OpenAI navigates its next chapter amidst this governance reboot.

The shift comes after more than 700 OpenAI employees, or 97% of the workforce, voiced their intention to resign should Altman not be reinstated.

Anthropic's Claude Leaps Forward with Major 2.1 Update

They doubled Claude's context window to an unprecedented 200K tokens - yes that’s 500 pages of content. All whilst 2x reducing its hallucination rates, making their model drastically less likely to produce incorrect responses. Plus, introduced a variety of developer features, such as system prompts, their new Workbench product and added new beta feature of API Tool use.

Amazon to Empower 2M with AI Skills by 2025 by its 'AI Ready' Commitment

In a bold move to democratize AI learning, Amazon is set to offer free AI skills training to 2 million individuals by 2025 with its new 'AI Ready' commitment. This initiative, spearheaded by AWS Vice President Swami Sivasubramanian, comes as demand for AI talent soars, with AI-savvy workers potentially earning up to 47% more. The program includes eight new AI courses, a scholarship collaboration providing access to Udacity's generative AI course for over 50,000 students, and a partnership with Code.org. This strategic educational push aims to bridge the AI skill gap and empower a new generation of AI experts.
